Dress
Business attire recommended.
Press
Event is by prior application only. On-site registration is possible, but can be very time consuming. Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Press Centre facilities are good with IT, light refreshments and cloakroom facilities provided free of charge. It is recommended that a national passport be used for personal identification purposes.
Hotel Hints
There are several on-site and other hotels in the immediate area. Early booking is suggested for the foregoing. Many attendees opt to commute from central London, where hotel costs can be cheaper and central London amenities are on the door step.
Power & Plug Types
British/UK 3-pin plugs are standard throughout. Voltage is 220-240 volts/DC.
Country Warnings
Normal common sense rules apply when moving around any large capital city. The ExCel Centre area is quiet outside working hours.
Cultural Hints
London is a large cosmopolitan city with the number of visiting tourists probably in excess of ten million per year, with the central London area open for most of the 24 hour day.
Show Food
There are numerous coffee shops, bistros and restaurants onsite. In the immediate area are traditional English pubs and restaurants for after show hours socializing and eating.
Currency
The unit of currency is the English pound (£). Exchange rates vary slightly, but for planning purposes, 1 Pound = US$1.60 or Euro 1.20
Getting Around
The visitor is spoilt for choice with a full range of Underground rail network, Regional Rail services, buses and taxis, the latter are all metered (unless privately booked on an advanced booking basis). Apart from local road services, the ExCel Centre is served by the London Dockland’s Light Railway system. (Get off at the Customs House station).
Tourism
If you wish to see the sights of London, the best jumping-off point would be a hotel in central London. Widely available one-day travel cards are a cost effective way of seeing the most at the least expense in the greater London area. Journeys to the provinces are easily undertaken via the extensive local and national rail networks.
